CASCADE COMMUNITY SAFETY ACTION FOR SUPPORTING CLIMATE ADAPTATION

The CASCADE (Community Safety Action for Supporting Climate Adaptation) project is a 24-month initiative funded by the European Union's DG ECHO to enhance resilience in the Baltic Sea Region by integrating civil protection and climate change adaptation expertise.

• The CASCADE project, running from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2020, with a budget of 867,028 euros, aims to increase practical risk management capability by combining the expertise of civil protection specialists and climate change adaptation experts.
• The project produces several outputs for Baltic Sea Region countries, including an online tool for integrated climate change and disaster risk reduction management, a risk assessment methodology for urban contexts, training for civil protection officials, guidelines for local public administration, and policy dialogues for multilevel risk governance.
• CASCADE intends to initiate a region-wide policy dialogue regarding the UN Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction to facilitate cross-sectorial cooperation and policy coherence on climate risk assessments.
