Visibility of Land-Based Resource Variables

This guide explains how to enable and configure land-based resource analysis within the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) software, detailing the necessary settings, data requirements, and the resulting changes to the software's interface.

• To activate land-based resource analysis in LEAP, users must enable the 'Land-Use Change and Land-Based Resources' option in the Scope & Scale tab of the General: Settings screen; otherwise, all related variables are hidden and excluded from calculations.
• Setting up a land-based resource analysis requires creating a list of land types via the General: Land Types screen and is strongly recommended for multi-regional models of sizable energy systems, such as countries, which may necessitate creating a list of regions in the General: Regions screen.
• The level of detail in the Resources branches depends on the fuel type: wood resources involve numerous variables covering stocks, growth, and demand/supply interactions, whereas other resources only consider annual energy productivity.
