Transboundary Climate Risks in Senegal

The report outlines national and international strategies for Senegal to manage transboundary climate risks, emphasizing the need for formal recognition in policy documents and the development of regional cooperation frameworks.

• Senegal should implement national actions to manage transboundary climate risks, including formally recognizing them in the updated nationally determined contribution (NDC) and national adaptation plan (NAP), designating clear risk ownership for coordination, and integrating these risks into regional and international negotiations.
• To enhance resilience, Senegal is encouraged to pursue three international cooperation pathways: mobilizing financial support for research on transboundary adaptation and risk channels like global supply chains, building capacity within West Africa's foreign policy community and with development partners, and establishing partnerships for new adaptation governance initiatives and coalitions.
