Renewable Target

This guide explains the 'Renewable Target' variable within a transformation analysis tool, which is used to set minimum percentage requirements for renewable fuel in optimization-based scenarios, such as Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS).

• The Renewable Target variable defines the minimum percentage of fuel requirements that must be sourced from processes designated as 'renewable' via the Renewable Qualified variable, specifically for use in optimization-based scenarios to specify generation targets in a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).
• Users must manually mark processes as 'Renewable Qualified' at the process level. While wind, solar, hydro, and biomass are typically marked as such, the tool allows any process to be marked as renewable regardless of its actual feedstock fuel, and some hydro or biomass projects may not qualify for an RPS.
• The location of the Renewable Target variable has been moved from load shape branches to Transformation modules.
