Apoyando transiciones justas hacia un sector de agua sostenible en Bolivia

This report examines climate adaptation projects in Bolivia's water sector, funded by the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR), to derive lessons for supporting just transitions in water resource management.

• Bolivia is experiencing an urgent water crisis driven by a combination of limited supplies and rising demand from population growth and increased consumption in the energy, industry, and agriculture sectors.
• Water quality and supply in Bolivia are further threatened by climate change, as well as by urbanization, deforestation, mining, and the presence of untreated wastewater.
• Achieving national development and climate goals in Bolivia—including energy sector decarbonization, food security, and universal basic service access—depends on securing sufficient water resources through sustainable and inclusive management practices that utilize just transition planning to avoid adverse impacts.
