Transport Choice Infrastructure Impact

This research paper analyzes a survey of 1,020 Swedish residents to identify the primary drivers of transport modal choice and the impact of transport infrastructure on quality of life and the living environment.

• The primary factors influencing modal choice among the surveyed Swedish residents are reliability, punctuality, and physical accessibility, with mean scores of 5.53, 5.49, and 5.42 respectively on a scale from 1 to 7. The small, often statistically non-significant differences between these ratings suggest that respondents share similar expectations for transport services regardless of their sociodemographic or geographic context.
• Transport cost is not identified as one of the key factors governing modal choice, suggesting that the introduction of new infrastructure or policy interventions could successfully increase the attractiveness of transport modes other than the car.
