Sustainable cooling community of practice

The document describes the evolving landscape of the sustainable cooling community of practice, highlighting the growth of initiatives since the 2016 Kigali Amendment and the roles of various philanthropic, multilateral, and international organizations in coordinating advocacy, finance, and technical support.

• Since the October 2016 signing of the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, there has been a significant increase in sustainable cooling initiatives. This community of practice focuses on key themes such as data, finance, business, services, and global advocacy and coordination.
• The Clean Cooling Collaborative (CCC), formerly the Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program, provided early catalytic grant funding across four action areas and currently focuses on scaling emissions reductions and improving clean cooling access in the US, China, India, and Southeast Asia.
• A variety of organizations provide financial and technical support for sustainable cooling. The World Bank ESMAP mobilized investment via the GCF, and the UK acts as a bilateral donor. Policy and technical assistance are provided by entities including UNDP, UNEP, the World Bank, CLASP, and SEforALL, while BASE and ACES focus on business models, services, and education.
