Partner Spotlight: Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency

This case study features an interview with leadership from the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency regarding its role as the energy efficiency hub for Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), its alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 7, and its support for the Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform.

• The Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency serves as the energy efficiency hub for Sustainable Energy for All, focusing on the creation and dissemination of knowledge to accelerate energy efficiency actions and the development of new deployment models. The Centre provides technical assistance and connects cities and countries with technology and service providers to realize energy efficiency ambitions.
• The Centre is operationally linked to the UN System as a collaborating centre of the UN Environment Programme and is part of the UNEP-DTU Partnership, a research and advisory organization based in Denmark with approximately 28 years of history. It supports the review process for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically targeting the goal to double the global rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030.
• The Centre supports the SEforALL Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform, which consists of six public-private partnerships (Accelerators). These Accelerators target high energy use sectors, including buildings, industry, transport, district heating and cooling, lighting, appliances and equipment, and motor vehicles and transport, to help countries and cities build capacity and enabling environments.
• In May 2018, the Copenhagen Centre co-hosted the EE Global Forum in Copenhagen, which gathered participants from more than 50 countries to prioritize energy efficiency within the clean energy transition debate.
