Harnessing investment in Tanzania’s agricultural sector for inclusive growth

• Tanzania's agricultural potential is limited by several systemic barriers, including poor infrastructure, a lack of quality inputs and access to credit, sparse training initiatives, and unclear land laws.
• Domestic agro-processing initiatives have struggled to capture local markets because products from Kenya and South Africa offer better quality.
• While smallholder farmers are essential for producing export-quality goods, public-private partnerships alone cannot link them to larger markets. These partnerships must be integrated with investment plans that address environmental damage, food-insecure areas, and the transparency of contract terms between farmers and companies.
• There is a need for increased synergy between government departments regarding policy frameworks and legislative measures.
