The Angovo project, implemented by ANKA in southern Madagascar, aims to install over 3.5 MWp of solar mini-grid capacity to serve 15,600 clients and approximately 70,000 beneficiaries. With a total budget of EUR 14,550,000, the project utilizes a blended finance model involving the EU, AFD, GIZ, and private investors. Beyond electricity provision, the initiative integrates e-health, e-education, and Agrigrid© programs to stimulate rural economic development and mitigate up to 5,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

• The Angovo project aims to install more than 3.5 MWp of green energy infrastructure, with an average of 170 kWp per site; as of the report date, 1,656 kWp have been installed.
• The project targets a total of 15,600 direct connections serving approximately 70,000 people. Of these connections, 80% are for households, 18% for productive users such as refrigeration and metal works, and 2% for public and social institutions including clinics and schools.
• The initiative is funded through a blended finance model with a total budget of EUR 14,550,000, which includes a EUR 7,420,000 grant. Funding is provided by the European Union (EU) and the French Development Agency (AFD), with technical assistance from GIZ and private investments from Canopy, atmosfair, Realize Impact, and Ground Squirrel Ventures.
• The project intends to mitigate approximately 5,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, with 2,300 tonnes currently avoided. It will expand from four existing mini-grids to a total of 51 villages by implementing a dozen additional sites across 37 new villages.
• Beyond basic electrification, ANKA is deploying integrated programs including e-education, e-health, and Agrigrid©, while upgrading existing infrastructure such as the Mangily touristic village network to increase storage capacities.
