Increasing Climate Resilience in the Northern Territory: Harnessing

This report provides recommendations for the Northern Territory Government to develop a climate change strategy focused on mitigating risk and leveraging opportunities through a low-carbon transition.

• To mitigate dangerous climate risk, the Northern Territory Government needs an evidence-based climate change policy that incorporates a comprehensive adaptation strategy and a target of net zero emissions by 2050.
• Achieving the necessary scale of change requires the Northern Territory Government to engage all sectors across the Territory.
• A low-carbon transition can provide clear benefits if it is executed with a people-centred focus and strategic design, noting that the necessary expertise and technology currently exist.
