Consolidation of climate planning processes in the Energy Community

• Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) updates can be treated as synthesis reporting documents for the international community, based on the latest NECP or other national strategies, thereby removing the need for additional separate planning processes.
• To accelerate implementation, Contracting Parties should establish overarching legislation that defines roles for cross-ministerial coordinating bodies, working groups, and data collection teams, including a body with a comprehensive overview of national climate processes.
• Contracting Parties can increase efficiency by aligning the timelines of National Communications (NC) to the UNFCCC and Progress Reports to the Energy Community, as both documents require similar data on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and GHG emissions.
