Promoting Synergies Between Climate Change Adaptation and Biodiversity Through the National Adaptation Plan and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Processes

The document argues that integrating the implementation of UNFCCC and CBD commitments at the national level is essential for achieving global climate and biodiversity goals. It advocates for domestic policy coherence across the design, financing, implementation, and review of NAPs and NBSAPs, providing practical entry points and case study lessons for country-level focal points and ministry staff.

• Achieving the goals of the UNFCCC, the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the Sustainable Development Goals requires countries to build synergies between climate and biodiversity strategies at the domestic level.
• Realizing synergies between climate adaptation and biodiversity requires joint action and policy coherence across four specific stages of the NAP and NBSAP processes: design, financing, implementation, and review/reporting.
