Peace and Security Council Report

The February 2013 Peace and Security Council (PSC) Report by the Institute for Security Studies provides analysis on critical security threats and political transitions across Africa. • The 20th AU Assembly summit in Addis Ababa (27-28 January 2013) decided that the AU would contribute 50 million US Dollars to the AFISMA budget.
• Progress between Sudan and South Sudan on post-secession agreements has been impeded by disagreements over the 14 Mile Area, the administration of Abyei, and conflicts in Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.
• In Somalia, international support is being coordinated to ensure Somali ownership, though some countries expressed concern over a military force building agreement signed between Somalia and Turkey.
