Intimate partner violence: Results from a national gender-based violence study in Malawi

This report presents the findings of a national household survey on violence against women in Malawi, conducted by the National Statistics Office's Crime and Justice Statistical Division and funded by the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) through the MaSSAJ programme.

• The study utilized a national household survey to address the inadequacy of previous data on violence against women, which had relied on reports from medical facilities, counselling groups, and the criminal justice system, thereby only capturing those who publicly acknowledged victimisation or had severe injuries.
