Signing of MoU Between ISS and SADC Parliamentary Forum

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 8 September 2008 in Pretoria to cooperate on security sector governance and parliamentary capacity building.

• On 8 September 2008, the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) and the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish terms for cooperation regarding security sector governance oversight, capacity building, and parliamentary professional development.
• The MOU, signed by SADC PF Secretary General Dr Kasuka Mutukwa and ISS Executive Director Dr Jakkie Cilliers, commits both organizations to providing training and capacity building for parliamentarians, support staff, and relevant parliamentary committees. This training focuses on the development of national security and defence policies and the operations of the security sector.
