Somalia: the meaning of AMISOM's 'easy victory'

The joint Kenyan Defence Force (KDF) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have captured Kismayo, Al-Shabaab's last stronghold. While a significant victory, the threat persists as Al-Shabaab is expected to shift toward unconventional and guerrilla warfare, including the use of suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices, to destabilize the region.

• The capture of Kismayo by the Kenyan Defence Force (KDF) and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) does not signify the eradication of Al-Shabaab.
