Préparation de rapports de progrès les normes volontaires de durabilité peuvent appuyer les examens nationaux volontaires

The policy brief examines how voluntary sustainability standards (VSS) can bridge data gaps and provide evidence for governments reporting on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). Through an analysis of 13 VSS, the authors demonstrate high alignment with SDGs 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and provide guidelines for governments to integrate VSS data and case studies into their national reporting processes.

• Case studies in Uganda, India, and Tanzania illustrate concrete impacts, such as Fairtrade International training 1,200 women in Uganda on income diversification and land titles (SDG 2 and 5), and Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) investing in school infrastructure and vocational training in Tanzania to prevent child labor (SDG 8.7).
• The document provides five guidelines for governments to leverage VSS: identifying stakeholder engagement processes, utilizing existing institutional mechanisms for data collection, using VSS criteria and evidence for specific SDG targets, describing how VSS address data gaps and mobilize investment, and selecting national VSS case studies to illustrate best practices.
