Promoting Climate-Resilient Peacebuilding in Fragile States

Consequently, climate change and variability may reverse previous gains in peacebuilding and development, acting as a threat to human security and a potential catalyst for conflict.
• To address these challenges, peacebuilding interventions in conflict-affected and fragile states should pursue two simultaneous objectives: implementing climate-resilient peacebuilding that accounts for climate risk as a conflict driver, and deploying conflict-sensitive climate change responses that avoid increasing conflict risks and instead support peacebuilding.
