Operationalizing the Environment-Health Nexus in Asia and the Pacific

This policy guide provides a framework for policymakers and stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region to integrate environment-health risks into public policies, specifically focusing on biodiversity loss, food systems, and climate change to safeguard human health and ecosystems.

• The guide is designed to help Asia-Pacific policymakers mainstream the environment-health nexus into public policies, specifically targeting areas related to climate change, food systems, biodiversity loss, and health, while supporting an environmentally comprehensive One Health approach aligned with the 2022 global One Health Joint Plan of Action.
• There is an increasing trend of health professionals and civil society health organisations engaging with the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to address the environmental determinants of health. In 2022, five newly accredited civil society health organisations attended the 15th UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15) in Montréal, Canada.
