Review of Current and Planned Adaptation Action in Tajikistan

This report provides an overview of climate risks, vulnerable sectors, and adaptation policies in Tajikistan, highlighting the country's high sensitivity to climate change and the government's efforts to enhance institutional capacity through the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience.

• Tajikistan is identified as one of the most vulnerable countries in Central Asia regarding climate change, characterized by high sensitivity to risks and low adaptive capacity. The government considers the most critical concerns to be the increased frequency and severity of natural disasters, as well as reduced water availability and quality, which impact health, energy, and agriculture.
• Progress in integrating climate change into development programs has been hindered by capacity limitations. To resolve this, the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience is focusing on improving technical and institutional capacities, while a national adaptation strategy and action plan is being developed to guide the private sector, civil society, and government priorities.
