Leveraging the National Adaptation Plan Process for Adaptation Communications

This report examines how countries can use the outputs and results of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process to develop Adaptation Communications (AdComs) for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), aiming to increase the visibility of adaptation efforts without increasing reporting burdens.

• The NAP Global Network has provided support to 22 partner countries in utilizing their National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes to prepare adaptation communications for the UNFCCC.
• Countries can leverage NAP process results to create Adaptation Communications (AdComs) regardless of whether they are in the initial stages of the NAP process or have been implementing it for several years.
• Adaptation Communications serve as a tool for countries to provide an updated overview of adaptation and increase the visibility of their needs and efforts, while leveraging NAP results helps avoid creating an undue additional reporting burden.
