Clean Fuel Standard: Summary of stakeholder written comments on the Discussion Paper

The Government of Canada's proposal for a Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) received strong stakeholder support, with broad agreement on the necessity of contributions from all economic sectors to meet national emission reduction targets.

• Stakeholders from academia, the public, environmental organizations, and various economic sectors expressed strong support for the CFS and agreed that all economic sectors must contribute to achieving Canada's climate goals.
• Canada has established targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions below 2005 levels, specifically aiming for a 30 per cent reduction by 2030 and at least an 80 per cent reduction by 2050.
