Review of Current and Planned Adaptation Action in Botswana

This report provides a snapshot of climate risks and adaptation efforts in Botswana, highlighting the country's vulnerability due to water scarcity and the lack of national priority given to climate change policy.

• Botswana's vulnerability to climate change is strongly linked to its existing high levels of water scarcity. The government has identified five specific sectors as being particularly vulnerable: water, health, crops, grasslands and livestock, and forestry.
• The government of Botswana does not view climate change as a national priority. This has resulted in a lack of strategy, legislation, and guiding policy for responding to climate impacts, as well as a shortage of adaptation projects and programs, which is expected to worsen climate-related threats.
