Planning for the Future

The guidebook aims to enhance the climate resilience of Manitoba's 27 integrated watershed management planning areas by identifying entry points for adaptation planning within the existing IWMP process. It provides tools to assess climate impacts, increase risk knowledge, ensure long-term investment appropriateness, and utilize the Climate Atlas of Canada, supported by five worksheets and a resource list.

• Manitoba's 27 integrated watershed management planning areas are responsible for balancing ecosystem, community, and economic health through periodically updated integrated watershed management plans (IWMP), which now present an opportunity to incorporate more climate adaptation planning.
• The guidebook provides specific tools and guidance to help watershed districts manage climate risks, including methods to assess anticipated impacts, build capacity for risk management, ensure long-term investment suitability, and a guide for using the Climate Atlas of Canada.
