Duodécima reunión de la Conferencia de las Partes (CoP) del IAI

The twelfth meeting of the IAI Conference of the Parties (CoP) focused on administrative governance, budgetary approvals, and institutional expansion. Key outcomes included the election of Dr. Holm Tiessen as Executive Director, the approval of the 2005-2006 annual program and basic budget, and the appointment of new members to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). The CoP also agreed in principle to register the IAI with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and to establish an annual science-policy activity, both subject to funding availability.

• The CoP appointed Dr. Holm Tiessen as the new Executive Director of the IAI for a three-year term.
• The CoP approved the Basic Budget Request and Member Country Contributions for the 2005-2006 fiscal year, as well as the IAI Annual Program for 2005-2006.
• The CoP agreed in principle to a proposal from Mexico to register the IAI with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), contingent on the availability of funds.
• The CoP approved the proposal for CPTEC/INPE to become an IAI Affiliated Institution for the Program on Climate Variability in the Americas.
• The CoP agreed in principle to a Mexican proposal to organize an annual science-policy activity, noting that Member Countries and the IAI Executive Directorate must seek resources outside the Basic Budget.
