The IAI Executive Directorate has advanced several strategic mandates from CoP-31, including the launch of a climate, environment, and health research program, the establishment of an Oceans, Islands, and Coastal Regions Committee, and the expansion of scientific diplomacy initiatives. Key achievements include the distribution of initial grants to 12 research teams across 15 countries, the development of partnerships with the University of the West Indies and the Global Change Research Center in Paraguay, and the implementation of the Science, Technology, and Policy (STeP) Fellowship with 45 fellows. The Directorate is also coordinating regional efforts on the Amazon and tropical forests, as well as enhancing gender and indigenous inclusion through new advisory committees and targeted funding for underrepresented researchers.

• The IAI has established a research and training program on the nexus of climate, environment, and health, resulting in the launch of a virtual campus course, a three-week course on El Niño's health impacts with PAHO, WMO, and GCCHE, and the awarding of initial grants to 12 research teams from 15 countries.
• To address the nexus of oceans, islands, and coastal systems, the IAI formed a dedicated committee with 15 nominations from various stakeholders, which meets monthly and is currently discussing support for a Belmont Forum Call for Regional Action (CRA) on Oceans.
• The IAI is expanding its scientific diplomacy and international policy engagement, including a partnership with the UN Development Coordination Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN/DCO LAC), facilitating 17 sessions for the 78th UN General Assembly Science Summit, and managing the Science, Technology, and Policy (STeP) Fellowship with 45 fellows from 14 countries.
• The Directorate is pursuing institutional partnerships, having sent invitations and draft Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to the University of the West Indies and the Global Change Research Center (CICAG) of the National University of Asunción in Paraguay, with the latter reaching a final version on September 12, 2023.
• Efforts to improve equity and inclusion include the monthly meetings of the Gender, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) committee, the development of guidelines for an Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Advisory Committee (IP&LC-AC), and funding for 89 early-career or underrepresented researchers to attend various international conferences.
• The IAI is coordinating regional climate research and capacity building, including the development of a CRA on the Amazon and Tropical Forests with FAPESP and the Belmont Forum, and supporting the creation of the Central American Climate Change Science Network (RC4).
