Conferencia de las Partes (CoP) del IAI Cuarta reunión

The fourth meeting of the IAI Conference of the Parties (CoP) resulted in several administrative and strategic approvals, including the adoption of a modified Scientific Agenda, the Phase II Program, and the 1997/98 Basic Budget. The CoP established an indirect cost policy allowing up to 10% overhead and elected four new members to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC). Additionally, the meeting coordinated future sessions, with the United States agreeing to host the fifth CoP and seventh Executive Council meeting in early 1998.

• The CoP approved the IAI's modified Scientific Agenda and the Phase II Program, while requesting that the Executive Council (EC) and Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) further interpret and expand the agenda for the next meeting.
• A policy for indirect costs was approved, permitting up to 10% of the total requested budget to be charged as overhead, though the IAI encourages lower percentages.
• The 1997/98 Basic Budget Requirement was approved using a modified 'Option 2' for voluntary country contributions, which is set to remain fixed for three years from 1997/98 to 1999/2000.
• The CoP elected Ronald Woodman (Peru), Ernesto Medina (Venezuela), John Stewart (Canada), and Diana Liverman (United States) as members of the SAC.
