ELEVENTH MEETING OF THE IAI CONFERENCE OF THE PARTIES (CoP)

The eleventh meeting of the IAI Conference of the Parties (CoP) resulted in nine resolutions covering administrative approvals, financial planning, and leadership elections. Key outcomes include the approval of the 2004/2005 Annual Program and Core Budget, the maintenance of current member country contribution values, and the establishment of a recruitment timeline and committee for a new IAI Director to be elected in February 2005. The CoP also elected members to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Executive Council (EC) for the 2004-2006 period.

• The CoP approved several administrative and financial documents for the 2004/2005 period, including the report of the Standing Committee on Rules and Procedures, the Alternative Core Budget Request, the Annual Program, and principles regarding in-kind contributions.
• The CoP resolved to keep the values of Member Country Contributions unchanged for the 2004/2005 period.
• The CoP adopted a recruitment process for a new IAI Director, targeting an election in February 2005 with the new Director assuming responsibilities in June 2005. This plan includes the delegation of authority to the Executive Council to approve CRN II awards because the call for proposals is not expected until January 2005.
• The CoP appointed specific individuals and nations to leadership and advisory roles, including a three-person Director Recruitment Committee (Carlos Ereño, Adrián Fernández Bremauntz, and Margaret Leinen), five scientists to the SAC, and nine countries to the EC for July 2004 to June 2006.
