This document is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 16 February 2023 between the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) to establish a framework for cooperation on global change and atmospheric science.

• The WMO and IAI have established a framework for reciprocal cooperation in fields related to their mandates, specifically focusing on scientific, technological, regulatory, and development issues. This includes the exchange of publications and potential reciprocal representation at meetings convened by either organization.
• The cooperation aims to generate interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific information to support knowledge users and provide a deep understanding of socio-environmental systems, which in turn guides global change mitigation and adaptation efforts and policy decisions.
• The MoU is not legally binding and operates on a no-exchange of funds basis, with all activities subject to the availability of funding for each party. It remains in force for an initial period of five years, with automatic five-year renewals unless terminated with six months' notice.
