The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) announced the addition of three new Associates following the 33rd meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-33) held in May 2025.

• During the 33rd meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP-33) in Asunción, Paraguay, on 29 and 30 May 2025, Decisions XXXIII/10, XXXIII/12 and XXXIII14 were adopted to welcome three new Associates to the IAI: the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the American Geophysical Union (AGU), and the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC).
• The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) joins the IAI based on a history of over 20 prior collaborations and a recent co-organized regional side event on droughts, offering expertise in water, climate, and weather.
• The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is a global leader in space and Earth sciences that has influenced the IAI's new policy on Open Access to Data and Publications Policy through a partnership via the Belmont Forum on open data.
• The Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) is described as Venezuela's premier research institution, operating nearly 100 laboratories, eight regional centers, and employing more than 300 researchers.
