A notification from the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research regarding the nomination and election process for the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) ahead of the CoP-28.

• The deadline for submitting nominations to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Science-Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) was 17 July 2020. For the two SAC vacancies to be filled by nominations from the Parties, five candidates were nominated: Inés Camilloni and Marcelo Barreiro from Argentina, Mercedes Maria da Cunha Bustamante from Brazil, Andrew Lamm from Jamaica, and Tereza Cavazos from Mexico.
• Accredited Parties attending CoP-28 are invited to vote for two preferred SAC candidates via email by 19 August 2020, 12 PM UYT. Parties with multiple accredited Representatives must designate a single Representative to submit the vote.
• Elections for SPAC vacancies and SAC vacancies filled by nominations from the SAC and Associates will be discussed and conducted via videoconferencing during the CoP-28 on 19 August 2020.
