The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) and the State University of New York Upstate Medical University are collaborating on the health component of the Caribbean regional track of the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR), a project running from March 25 to December 17, 2020.

• The health component of the Caribbean regional track of the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (PPCR) is a collaboration between the IAI Directorate and the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. Designed under the Strategic Climate Fund (SCF), the project aims to scale up investments in climate risk and resilience for highly vulnerable countries and demonstrate the integration of these measures into core development planning.
• Project activities involve conducting surveys in Haiti, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia to analyze the social, epidemiological, and clinical role of gender in the transmission of Zika, chikungunya, and dengue viruses. These efforts are intended to assist in creating early warning systems to mitigate risks from mosquito-borne diseases linked to climate change and variability.
• The project is scheduled to run from 25 March 2020 to 17 December 2020. It is funded via the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and implemented in the Caribbean through the University of West's Mona Office for Research and Innovation, in collaboration with The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).
