The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) was unanimously admitted as a member of the Belmont Forum during its Annual Plenary Meeting in London from 16 to 18 October 2018.

• The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) became a member of the Belmont Forum following a unanimous vote during the Belmont Forum Annual Plenary Meeting held in London, United Kingdom, between 16 and 18 October 2018.
• Membership in the Belmont Forum is intended to give the IAI influence over global change research funding decisions, improve its understanding of global and national funding programs, and support the implementation of Decision XXIII/15 to create a flexible funding mechanism for the Americas.
• The IAI is conducting side meetings in London with the Wellcome Trust, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and the Charities Aid Foundation to introduce the institute and explore potential joint initiatives.
