Action List

The Action List from the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Bogota, Colombia on 19-20 May 2009, records administrative decisions including the election of the Bureau, approval of the FY 2009-2010 budget and annual program, and amendments to the Rules of Procedure.

• The CoP elected a Bureau for its Sixteenth Meeting consisting of Gladys Maggi from Venezuela as Chair, Roberto Villalobos from Costa Rica as First Vice-Chair, and Ricardo Lozano from Colombia as Second Vice-Chair.
• Ten delegations submitted official credentials to participate in the meeting: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, and Venezuela.
• The CoP declined an offer from the UK to assess the South American Climate Change Network, stating that while the IAI possesses the scientific capacity for the assessment, it cannot be involved in the project.
• Financial and operational approvals for FY 2009-2010 included the Core Budget Request, the level of Country Contributions, and the Annual Program.
• The CoP approved various amendments to the Rules of Procedure for both the EC and the CoP, including changes to Rule 24, the creation of Rule 24a, and amendments to Rules 62a, 64, 65, 66, and 66a regarding the Election of Members of the Scientific Advisory Committee.
