Decisions

This document records the decisions made during the Fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held in Manaus, Brazil, on 14-15 June 2007. The meeting focused on administrative governance, budget approvals, and the renewal of leadership contracts.

• The CoP elected a Bureau for its Fourteenth Meeting consisting of Maria Assunção F. Silva Dias from Brazil as Chair, Brian Gray from Canada as First Vice-Chair, and Gladys Maggi from Venezuela as Second Vice-Chair.
• The CoP approved several financial and operational items for the 2007-2008 fiscal year, including the Core Budget Request, the Annual Program, and maintaining unchanged levels of Country Contributions.
• The CoP unanimously approved a second six-year term for the IAI Director, citing a need to sustain positive momentum and positive performance evaluation results. The decision includes a requirement for periodical performance appraisals.
• The CoP elected five members to the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC): Rana A. Fine (for a second term), María Carmen de Mello Lemos, Harold A. Mooney, Ramon Pichs Madruga, and Carolina Vera.
• Due to missing credentials from Brazil, Chile, and Paraguay, the CoP decided to continue sessions with the understanding that all decisions and actions would be considered provisional until the credentials were received and evaluated.
