• The cooperation includes strengthening the involvement of IAI investigators, research organizations, and member country decision-makers in IPBES processes, while using IPBES expertise and strategies to guide IAI science programmes and data collection.
• The MOU specifies that IAI is a separate entity from the United Nations, UNEP, and the IPBES Secretariat. Personnel from IAI are not considered employees or agents of the UN, and neither party can make legally binding declarations on behalf of the other.
• The agreement was set to remain in force until 30 May 2019, unless terminated earlier by either party providing 3 months' prior written notice.
• The document includes strict guidelines for the use of the IPBES logo, stating it is the official seal of the Platform and may only be used with prior written consent of the IPBES Secretariat, specifically prohibiting use for commercial purposes or to suggest endorsement of IAI's business practices.
