Minutas de la 40a Reunión del Consejo Ejecutivo del IAI (CE)

The minutes of the 40th Meeting of the Executive Council (EC) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held on June 26, 2015, in Lima, detail administrative decisions, the implementation of CoP-23 mandates, and strategic planning for scientific partnerships and leadership transitions.

The Executive Direction was tasked with notifying the Tripartite Structure Implementation Commission that the agreement would soon be ready for review, noting previous discrepancies in the Brazilian version regarding the competencies of the Scientific Development Director.
• The IAI is exploring the incorporation of energy into its science portfolio, specifically through collaborations with the Belmont Forum. The US indicated a budget for the Belmont Forum to support developing countries in Latin America participating in calls focused on food, energy, and water in the context of urbanization.
• Several new working groups and commissions were established: a commission to analyze member country participation (composed of Argentina, Canadá, Chile, and Paraguay), a working group on open science (with Canada preparing the draft terms of reference), and a request for the SAC to identify ways to interact with the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).
• The EC decided to include a discussion on potential research lines for the Collaborative Research Network (CRN) 4 in the agenda for CoP 24, with contributions to be provided by the SAC, SPAC, and Executive Direction.
