Report of the SAC-XXIII - Toronto

The 23rd SAC meeting focused on evolving the IAI's mission to better bridge the gap between scientific research and policy application. • Environment Canada is utilizing the Global Environmental Multiscale Forecasting & Modelling (GEM) space-based observation system to build climate change and forecasting models for Canada and other regions of the Americas.
• The SAC recommended reserving approximately USD 1.0 million in remaining CRN II funds to address specific research gaps in the current portfolio, particularly in urban areas and the balance between social and natural sciences.
• The US provides significant financial support to the IAI, with the NSF and NOAA donating $595,000 per year, and a broader science program providing $2 million per year.
