• The IAI aims to expand its capacity building and regional projects, specifically targeting carbon emissions in the Amazon Basin, ozone and UV radiation measurements over South America, and sustainability indicators for coastal management in the Caribbean and Central American region.
• The IAI/GEF/WMO Project provided 16 countries with compatible data processing capabilities, including METVIEW and GIS Spring software. The IAI Data Information System (DIS) was being implemented in 1998 with planned pilot nodes in Uruguay and Costa Rica.
