Informe de avance del CE

The report details the transition of the IAI to a tripartite management scheme with offices in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. While agreements are in place and staff appointed in Argentina and Uruguay, the agreement with Brazil remains under study. Additionally, the report highlights a critical lack of continuity in the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) due to unfilled vacancies and expiring mandates, and notes the IAI's participation in the ENSOCIO-LA project and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) for America and the Caribbean.

• The IAI is transitioning from a single integrated direction in Sao José dos Campos, Brazil, to a tripartite structure consisting of a Science-Policy Liaison Office in Buenos Aires, Argentina; a Scientific Development Office in Sao José dos Campos, Brazil; and a Finance and Integrated Operations Office in Montevideo, Uruguay.
• Implementation of the tripartite structure has progressed in Argentina, where an agreement was signed on October 30, 2012, and Dr. Tomás Lindemann was selected as Director, and in Uruguay, where an agreement was signed on November 13, 2012, and ratified by parliament on April 2, 2013. The agreement with Brazil is still being studied.
• The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) is facing a severe lack of continuity; it has operated with only 8 of 10 members due to vacancies, and by June 2013, four members will end their terms, with further mandates ending in 2014.
• The IAI joined the ENSOCIO-LA international consortium, approved in March 2013 and starting in June 2013, which focuses on sustainable cooperation in research and innovation regarding the environment, climate change, and resource efficiency between the EU and Latin American countries.
