Core Budget Request FY 2006/2007

• To improve operational efficiency and avoid the use of temporary staff for training activities, the IAI is requesting the hiring of two permanent local positions: a Driver and an Administrative Assistant.
• The IAI is addressing financial challenges in Brazil, where inflation and a weakening US Dollar caused a 27% loss in purchasing power. The Directorate is requesting to maintain a 13% salary adjustment previously approved in 2005/2006 to partially compensate for these exchange rate declines.
• The IAI Data Information System (DIS) is being used to standardize scientific data across projects and regions. The CRN II program has been selected as a partner for a new GIS-based information system that allows for the free scaling of geographic information.
