Pan American Climate Resilient Health Systems

This document outlines the learning objectives and case study goals for Sessions 3 and 4 of a course on Pan American climate resilient health systems. Session 3 focuses on assessing risks and opportunities for adaptation in health facilities, while Session 4 addresses the health adaptation process, including key actors and partnerships.

• Session 3 of the course aims to teach participants how to assess the vulnerability of health facilities and systems to climate change and identify adaptation options. This includes explaining the concept of "climate stress testing for health systems and facilities" to prepare for future impacts and providing examples of how facilities can increase resilience against frequent or severe climate-related hazards, such as weather extremes.
• Session 4 focuses on the fundamental processes and steps for health system adaptation to climate change. It emphasizes identifying necessary partnerships and the roles of specific stakeholders, including clinicians, public health officials, health system planners, researchers, civil society partners, and decision makers from outside the health sector, to develop adaptation strategies.
