• The EC outlined guiding principles for the Science-Policy Liaison Advisory Committee's Terms of Reference. The committee is intended to help the IAI integrate science and policy in global change without interfering in members' internal political processes and to ensure science is useful for decision-making across various sectors. Membership will be by invitation, non-voting, and representative of different regions and sectors.
• The EC proposed several strategies to increase member country participation and IAI funding. These include involving SAC members in IAI activities, using bilateral agreements with national funding agencies to create multilateral co-financing for research projects, inviting CoP member scientists as SAC observers, facilitating regional dialogues on global change science funding, and supporting young scientists through IAI networks.
• The Executive Council will evaluate whether the IAI Strategic Plan needs modification based on new IAI initiatives and the current landscape of global change research.
