The 30th Executive Council (CE) meeting of the IAI established its new leadership, committed to improving member country engagement through national UNFCCC contact points, and initiated the development of a strategic plan to be approved at the next CoP.

• The Executive Council (CE) agreed to identify national contact points within delegations to the UNFCCC to communicate IAI activities, with the representative of Colombia leading the organization of a potential briefing meeting at the UNFCCC in Cancún.
• To strengthen member country relations, Argentina will attempt to contact Uruguay, Mexico will contact Guatemala, and the United States will use diplomatic channels to reach both active and less participative IAI members.
• A group consisting of the IAI Executive Director, the CE President, and designated SAC members will compile material for a strategic plan, with a draft due for distribution to the CE and Venezuela in August and final approval expected at the next CoP.
