Lista de Acciones

This briefing document outlines the 'Lista de Acciones' (Action List) from the first day of the Eighth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), held on July 19, 2001, in Panama City, Panama.

• The CoP established the leadership for its Eighth Meeting, electing Ricardo Anguizola of Panama as President, Bessie Vasquez as substitute, Katia Gilaberte of Brazil as First Vice President, and Mimi Breton of Canada as Second Vice President.
• Twelve delegations provided the official accreditation required to participate in the meeting: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, United States, Jamaica, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
• The CoP formed a Selection Committee for the IAI Executive Director consisting of Carlos Ereño (Argentina), Antônio MacDowell (Brazil), Bárbara Garea (Cuba), Margaret Leinen (USA), Rudolf Romer (Venezuela), and the future president of the SAC, and approved the selection process proposal dated June 8, 2001.
• The CoP rescheduled its next meeting to February/March 2002 instead of June/July 2002 to ensure a new Director is elected before the current Director's contract expires at the end of March 2002.
