Plan de trabajo 2024–2025 del Comité de Ciencia y Datos Abiertos

The IAI Science and Open Data Committee's 2024–2025 work plan focuses on three main objectives: updating the IAI Open Data Policy through participatory processes and best practice guidelines; enhancing the usability of data platforms, including the scientific publications repository and the Harvard Dataverse catalog; and supporting regional and global assessments, such as UN common country analyses and IPCC evaluations on cities and climate change.

• The IAI aims to update its Open Data Policy through a participatory process involving IAI staff, advisory committee members, and representatives of IAI Parties and partners to adapt to technological and cultural advances in open science.
• To ensure compliance with open data requirements, the IAI will establish best practices and training materials (manuals, webinars) for the generation of open data, which will be integrated as requirements in funding agreements for research projects.
• The IAI is redesigning its website to improve the accessibility and usability of its scientific publications repository, which contains over 600 articles and reports published between 1997 and 2024.
• The IAI is evaluating the creation of a specific repository and search engine for policy briefs and synthetic evaluations to meet the needs of decision-makers, who require more integrated information than academic researchers.
• Between 2019 and 2022, IAI-funded projects deposited 23 research databases into the Harvard Dataverse across four themes: Ecosystems, biodiversity and land use; Climate variability in the Americas; Atmospheric, oceanic and inland water processes; and Human dimensions and applications.
• The IAI is providing synthesis documents on critical variables for Sustainable Development Goals to support UN common country analyses in Argentina, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and Uruguay.
• The IAI will support the IPCC's assessment of climate change and cities in 2024 by compiling literature packages, with a focus on grey literature, to be presented to authors and reviewers.
• The IAI is collaborating on the LACI pilot program to provide local information and capabilities for climate risk assessment data management in the Plata Basin.
