2024-2025 Work Plan of the Open Data and Science Committee

The IAI's 2024-2025 work plan focuses on three main objectives: updating the IAI's Open Data Policy through participatory processes, enhancing the usability of its scientific and policy repositories, and supporting regional and global assessments, including those by the IPCC and United Nations.

• The IAI aims to update its Open Data Policy through a participatory process involving staff, advisory board members, and representatives of IAI Parties and partners to adapt to technological and cultural advances in open science.
• The Institute is working to improve its data platforms, including a repository of over 600 scientific articles and reports published between 1997 and 2024, and an Open Data Catalog in the Harvard Dataverse containing 23 research databases deposited between 2019 and 2022.
• The IAI is evaluating the creation of a specific Repository and Search Engine for Policy Summaries and Synthetic Evaluations to better meet the information needs of decision-makers, who require higher levels of synthesis than researchers.
• The IAI is providing substantive support to several international and regional initiatives: producing synthesis documents for United Nations Common Country Analyses for Argentina, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and Uruguay; compiling literature for the IPCC Climate Change and Cities Assessment; and identifying research gaps for the Belmont Forum's Collaborative Research Action on Oceans, Coasts and Islands.
• The IAI is collaborating on the LACI pilot regarding Data Management for Climate Risk Assessment, specifically focused on the La Plata Basin.
