Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action on Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability Annex

This annex outlines the role of the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) in the Belmont Forum Collaborative Research Action (CRA) on Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability. While the IAI is not providing financial support for this phase, it is offering in-kind contributions through network facilitation, capacity building, and coordination with its 19 member Parties in the Americas.

• The IAI will not provide financial support for the current phase of the CRA, though funding may be available in later phases.
• The IAI's in-kind contributions include facilitating network building via Zoom meetings, webinars, and direct connections to IAI-sponsored projects, as well as facilitating communication with national governments.
• The IAI intends to provide training and capacity building in transdisciplinary (TD) approaches to CRA teams that include participants from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), provided the activities are topically relevant.
• Specific IAI Parties have expressed interest in providing support: Colombia's Instituto de Hidrología, Meteorología y Estudios Ambientales (IDEAM) and Uruguay's Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA), with the latter offering infrastructure such as the Long-term Agro-Environmental Experimental Platform and scientific expertise.
• Eligibility for the CRA is open to natural or social scientists and stakeholders from 19 IAI Parties: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil (excluding São Paulo), Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States of America, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Exceptions apply where a Party is already a Belmont Forum member, specifically the United States of America (NSF) and the State of São Paulo, Brazil (FAPESP).
