Approved 14th Meeting of the IAI Executive Council (CE)

The 14th Meeting of the IAI Executive Council approved its agenda and the report from the 13th meeting, while establishing deadlines for the selection of Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) members and the IAI Director. The Council requested the development of rules regarding project suspension, termination, and member country contributions, as well as the creation of country-specific reports detailing IAI investments and scientific results.

• The Executive Council (EC) modified its agenda to postpone the election of the 10th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) member to the February 2002 meeting in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, and added a presentation on "New Initiatives" for November 27, 2001.
• The SAC must provide the IAI Directorate with a list of two to four candidates by January 31, 2002, to fill a vacancy created by the departure of Dr. John Robinson.
• The EC mandated the creation of several policy documents to be finalized by February 2002, including rules for "Suspension and Termination Procedures for IAI Projects", strategies to increase country commitment (ICC), and protocols for handling delays in voluntary contributions from member countries.
• The IAI Directorate was tasked with producing reports for each member country that compare IAI investments against the country's contributions and highlight practical scientific results from supported projects.
